Danel Dongmo: Beitar Jerusalem eye move for Cameroon midfielder from Petrolul

Cameroonian central midfielder Danel Dongmo of Romanian side Petrolul is being linked with a summer move to Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem, with the 25-year-old’s future uncertain as his contract details remain undisclosed and a potential free-agent scenario cannot be ruled out.

The SuperLiga midfielder, valued at €450,000 on Transfermarkt, is rumoured to be on Beitar’s radar as they look to reinforce their options in the centre of the pitch ahead of the new Ligat ha’Al campaign. The reported probability of the deal is currently listed as “?”, underlining that talks, if any, are at an early and speculative stage rather than an advanced negotiation.

Dongmo, who was born in Douala on 31 January 2001 and stands at 1.82m, has established himself as a left-footed central midfielder for Petrolul, wearing the number 5 shirt. He operates primarily as a classic central midfielder, offering balance between defensive work and ball progression in Romania’s top flight.

Recent domestic action has kept him in the shop window, with the Cameroonian featuring in Petrolul’s latest SuperLiga fixtures – including a June outing in which Petrolul faced top-flight opposition as they battle for stability in Romania’s elite division. While individual statistics from that match are modest, his steady performances across the campaign have been sufficient to attract interest outside Romania.

With no public information on when his deal at Petrolul expires, Beitar Jerusalem could see an opportunity either to negotiate a cut-price transfer fee relative to his €450k market valuation or to monitor the player in case he runs down his contract and becomes a free agent.

Having built his professional profile in the Romanian SuperLiga, a move to Ligat ha’Al would mark Dongmo’s first venture into Israeli football and a significant step in his career trajectory. Should the transfer materialise, it could provide a new platform for the Cameroon midfielder to enhance his reputation and test himself in a different tactical and competitive environment.
