Mohammed Garba leaves Nigeria for Slovak challenge with AS Trencin
Nigeria winger Mohammed Garba has joined Slovak club AS Trencin from Nasarawa United, completing a move to the Nike Liga at the age of 19.
Garba is a left winger who prefers his right foot and arrives at Trencin after gaining experience in Nigeria’s NPFL. He made 42 appearances in the competition, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
The transfer takes the teenager from Nasarawa United into European football, with Trencin becoming his first club outside Nigeria. The move also places him in a different domestic competition, as he switches from the NPFL to Slovakia’s Nike Liga.
Garba’s record in Nigeria includes 2,365 minutes of league football. His five goals came at a rate of one every 473 minutes, while his single assist formed part of an overall contribution of six goals in 42 NPFL appearances.
The move gives Trencin a player whose established position is on the left side of the attack. Garba’s age and competitive experience in the NPFL provide the clearest context to his arrival, while his right-footed profile offers a defined option for the club’s attacking group.
He joined Nasarawa United before making the switch to Slovakia, although no earlier clubs are recorded in his senior career history. Garba’s arrival was registered on 21 August 2026, beginning his association with AS Trencin during the 2026-27 season.
The transfer represents a direct move from Nigerian domestic football to the Slovak top flight, with Garba now continuing his career in a new country and league. His previous competitive record is concentrated in the NPFL, where he accumulated 42 appearances before departing Nasarawa United.
Garba has therefore moved into European football while still at the start of his senior career. The 19-year-old Nigerian is now an AS Trencin player, with the club listed as his new side in the Nike Liga.
The transfer from Nasarawa United to AS Trencin was completed on 21 August 2026.
