Alexandre Mendy: Guinea-Bissau Striker Linked with Al-Fayha Move from Montpellier

Alexandre Mendy, the Guinea-Bissau international forward currently at Montpellier, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Fayha. The 32-year-old centre-forward, who is under contract with the French club until 30 June 2028, has emerged as a target as the Saudi side look to strengthen their attacking options.

Mendy is currently playing in Ligue 2 with Montpellier, and any deal would likely require Al-Fayha to pay a fee, with the striker valued at around €900,000. That valuation gives Montpellier some leverage in negotiations, given the length remaining on his contract and his status as a senior forward in the squad.

The potential transfer would mark a significant change of environment for Mendy, moving from French football to the increasingly high-profile Saudi Pro League. Al-Fayha have been active in monitoring experienced forwards, and Mendy’s profile as a seasoned centre-forward fits their search for immediate attacking reinforcement.

At 32, Mendy is in the later stages of his career but remains contracted for a further two years, leaving Montpellier in a position to demand a reasonable return if they decide to cash in. For the player, a move to Saudi Arabia would represent a new chapter after establishing himself in France, while for Montpellier it would pose questions over how they would replace an experienced option in their front line.

For now, Mendy remains a Montpellier player, with his long-term deal running to 2028 as Al-Fayha consider whether to turn their interest into a formal offer.
