Brahim Benzaza: Algeria midfielder leaves USM Alger to become free agent
Algerian midfielder Brahim Benzaza has left USM Alger and is now a free agent after reaching the end of his spell with the Algiers club.
The 29-year-old central midfielder departs with a market valuation of around €400,000 and is available to join a new team ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. His exit was confirmed on 13 July 2026, bringing to a close a five-year stay in the capital.
Benzaza, born in Mostaganem and standing at 1.77m, joined USM Alger in September 2021 from ASO Chlef on a free transfer. During his time with the club, he established himself in the centre of midfield and featured regularly in domestic and continental competition.
Across his senior career, Benzaza has amassed more than 150 appearances in Algeria’s Ligue 1, contributing 11 goals and 15 assists in the top flight. He has also gained significant experience in African competitions, making 40 appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup and adding further minutes in the CAF Super Cup.
Before his move to USM Alger, Benzaza’s performances for ASO Chlef had earned him national recognition, having first emerged at ES Mostaganem after progressing from his hometown youth ranks. His consistent game time in league and cup competitions has underlined his durability and experience in Algerian football.
Benzaza’s departure from USM Alger means he is now unattached and free to negotiate a move to a new club.
