Frankfurt eye Senegal-Guinea-Bissau defender Nobel Mendy in €7.5m move from Rayo Vallecano

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly tracking Rayo Vallecano’s Senegal-Guinea-Bissau centre-back Nobel Mendy, with the 21-year-old defender linked with a summer switch from LaLiga to the Bundesliga.

The Guédiawaye-born left-footed centre-back, who stands at 1.87m, is valued at €7.50m on Transfermarkt, a figure being cited in Germany and Spain as a reference point for any negotiations. According to the latest data, the probability of the move currently stands at 32%, underlining that talks are at an exploratory stage rather than an advanced one.

Mendy, who holds both Senegalese and Guinea-Bissau nationality, is on the books at Rayo Vallecano, with his deal not publicly listed with a fixed expiry date. The lack of clear contract information has fuelled speculation that the player could either be negotiating fresh terms in Madrid or running down a short agreement that might see him approach free-agent status if no extension is agreed.

Rayo’s left-sided defender has been used primarily as a centre-back, and his profile – tall, physically strong and comfortable on his natural left foot – fits Frankfurt’s ongoing search for defensive reinforcements. Mendy most recently featured in Rayo’s late-season LaLiga run-in, including a tightly-contested home match against top-flight opposition in May 2026, where he helped keep the scoreline narrow in a low-scoring encounter, underlining his growing maturity at senior level.

Born on 3 September 2004, Mendy is still at an early stage of his professional career, with Rayo his current club and no formally recorded previous senior teams listed. He has yet to break through at full international level for either Senegal or Guinea-Bissau, but his dual eligibility adds to his appeal for clubs planning long-term squad building.

If a deal can be struck, a move to Frankfurt would offer Mendy a first taste of Bundesliga football and could be a defining step in shaping his reputation as one of the more promising young centre-backs to emerge from LaLiga in recent seasons.
