Yasser Larouci: Algeria defender signs for Le Mans FC on free transfer
Algeria left-back Yasser Larouci has joined Le Mans FC on a free transfer after a brief spell without a club. The 25-year-old defender has signed a contract with the Ligue 1 side running until 30 June 2029.
Larouci had been released by French outfit Troyes at the start of July before sealing his move to Le Mans less than two weeks later. His arrival strengthens Le Mans’ options on the left side of defence, with the El Oued-born player naturally left-footed and experienced at full-back.
The move marks a return to French football on a permanent basis for Larouci, who first joined Troyes from Liverpool’s under-23s in 2021. During his time under contract with the Champagne club he gained top-flight experience in both France and England through a series of loans.
Larouci spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Sheffield United, making 11 Premier League appearances, before heading to Watford the following campaign in the Championship. He also played in Greece’s Super League with Kifisia in 2025-26, contributing goals and assists from defence.
Across his senior career to date, Larouci has featured in Ligue 1, the Premier League and the Championship, as well as domestic cups in England and France. Earlier in his career he came through the academies at Le Havre and Liverpool, winning the FA Youth Cup with Liverpool’s under-18s in 2018-19.
Le Mans have secured Larouci on a long-term deal until 2029 as he begins the next phase of his career in Ligue 1.
