Moussa Diaby set for emotional Bayer Leverkusen return

Moussa Diaby is closing in on an emotional return to Bayer Leverkusen, with head coach Carles Martinez confirming that the French winger has already arrived in the city to complete his move from Al Ittihad.

The transfer is expected to be finalised shortly, subject to the remaining formalities and medical checks.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Martínez acknowledged that Diaby’s presence could no longer be hidden.

“Of course everyone knows that he is here. I cannot hide it – the photos are there. At the moment, we are still working on finalising everything, including the medical examination. I prefer to speak officially about him once everything is done,” he said.

The 27-year-old will not be rushed into action. Martínez confirmed Diaby will miss Saturday’s match, saying: “I think it is very difficult that he will already be part of the group. I can say that he will not be in the squad on Saturday.”

Leverkusen are reportedly set to pay less than €30 million for Diaby, who previously established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous wide players during his first spell at the club. An official announcement could arrive later today.
