Ousmane Toure: Lille centre-back linked with Ligue 1 move to Le Mans FC
France-Mali defender Ousmane Toure, currently at Lille, is the subject of interest from Ligue 1 rivals Le Mans FC as the newly promoted side explore options to strengthen their defence ahead of the new season.
Toure, 21, is under contract at Lille until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal would require Le Mans to negotiate a transfer fee rather than target a free move. He is currently valued at around €500,000, a relatively modest figure for a young top-flight defender, and that valuation is understood to be a key factor in Le Mans’ interest as they look for affordable reinforcements.
The centre-back, born in Lille and right-footed, has begun to gain first-team exposure with Lille, making appearances in Ligue 1 and featuring in both the Coupe de France and the Champions League. He has also played in European youth competition, scoring in the UEFA Youth League, and has accumulated regular minutes in the French lower divisions, including National 2 and Ligue 3, during his development.
Toure returned to Lille’s first-team squad in the summer of 2025 after a loan spell at Valenciennes in the 2024-25 season, having stepped up from Lille’s youth and B sides over recent years. That progression, coupled with his height of 1.87m and experience across domestic and European competitions, has brought him onto the radar of clubs seeking central defensive options.
For now, Toure remains contracted to Lille, where he has been tied to the senior squad since 2024, with no agreement yet in place for a move away.
