Tafsir Diop makes Greek second-tier switch as Senegal teenager joins Kalamaria

Senegal centre-forward Tafsir Diop has joined Kalamaria from Aris Saloniki on loan, completing a move that takes the 18-year-old from Greece’s top flight to Super League 2.

Diop’s transfer was completed on 21 August 2026, shortly after he arrived at Aris on a free transfer from Senegalese club Esp. Guediawaye. His move to Kalamaria means he remains in Greek football but changes divisions, with the striker now registered with a club competing in the country’s second tier.

Born in Dakar on 18 January 2008, Diop is listed as a centre-forward and stands 1.88 metres tall. He represents Senegal and is the latest young attacking player to move between Greek clubs during the 2026-27 season.

The forward joined Aris on 3 August before switching to Kalamaria less than three weeks later. His time with the Super League 1 side came before he made a competitive appearance, and he moves on without a recorded senior league appearance or goal in the available campaign record.

Kalamaria are competing in the Kypello Elladas during the 2026-27 season, although Diop has not featured in the competition. His arrival gives the club an 18-year-old Senegalese option in the centre-forward position as the campaign develops.

The loan agreement runs until 30 June 2027, when Diop is scheduled to return to Aris Saloniki. That arrangement leaves his registration with Aris beyond the current move, while Kalamaria hold his playing services for the duration of the loan.

Diop’s move follows his first transfer from Senegalese football to Greece this summer. He left Esp. Guediawaye for Aris without a transfer fee before making the short-term switch to Kalamaria, which is based in the same country but operates in a different division.

The change also marks a rapid transition for a player who turned 18 in January. Diop has moved from a club in Greece’s Super League 1 to a side in Super League 2, with the loan providing his current competitive setting for the remainder of the 2026-27 season.

Tafsir Diop is contracted to Aris Saloniki until 30 June 2027, with his loan at Kalamaria ending on the same date.
