Liverpool maintain dialogue with Brighton over Yankuba Minteh despite two rejected bids
Liverpool remain in talks with Brighton over a possible move for Yankuba Minteh after the Seagulls turned down a second offer for the Gambia winger.
According to Footy-Africa, Brighton previously rejected an opening proposal worth £50m, approximately €58m. Liverpool have now seen a further bid rejected, although negotiations between the two clubs are continuing.
Liverpool’s interest in the 22-year-old remains strong and the club could return with another offer in the near future. The Reds are now working to find a deal that meets Brighton’s financial demands, with the south-coast club showing little indication that it is prepared to let Minteh leave easily.
Minteh and his representatives have been made aware of Liverpool’s interest and are monitoring the situation closely. The player understands the state of the discussions, while the two clubs are said to have maintained constructive communication and remain hopeful of reaching an agreement in the coming days.
Minteh’s contract situation gives Brighton a strong negotiating position. The winger is under contract with the club until June 2029, leaving Brighton under no immediate pressure to sell. Transfermarkt currently values the Gambia international at about €45m, but Brighton are seeking a considerably higher fee before considering his departure.
Liverpool are therefore expected to increase their offer if they are to make progress in the negotiations. The Merseyside club’s continued pursuit underlines its confidence in Minteh, despite the rejection of both proposals so far.
Minteh is reported to earn an annual salary of €2,467,296 in England, equivalent to 1,603,742,400 CFA francs.
Brighton are soon due to begin their English league campaign against Aston Villa in their opening fixture. The betting company 1xBet lists Brighton as 2.20 favourites for the match, with a draw priced at 3.65 and an Aston Villa victory at 3.10.
