Morocco-Belgium centre-back Mehdi Boukamir is being linked with a move from R Charleroi SC to fellow Belgian side La Louvière, with the 22-year-old’s future uncertain and his contractual situation unclear.
The Royal Charleroi defender, born in Jemeppe-sur-Sambre on 26 January 2004, is listed with a market value of €500,000, a figure seen as a potential bargain if he were to leave on a permanent deal or even become available as a free agent should his contract situation allow. The reported probability of the transfer remains unspecified (“?”), underlining that talks are still at a speculative stage rather than an advanced negotiation.
Standing at 1.88m and predominantly right-footed, Boukamir has been used as a central defender for Charleroi in the Jupiler Pro League. While detailed contractual terms are not publicly available, the absence of a confirmed expiry date has fuelled suggestions that the player could be moving on relatively cheaply, or even walk away as a free agent if his deal has run down.
Recent performances for Charleroi have kept him on the radar of domestic scouts. In his latest outing – a Jupiler Pro League fixture earlier this year for Charleroi, ending in a narrow defeat against league opposition – Boukamir featured in central defence and was noted for his aerial presence and physical duels, even as his side struggled to keep a clean sheet. That display, along with his versatility in the back line, has reportedly helped attract La Louvière’s interest.
Dual‑national Boukamir, who holds both Moroccan and Belgian nationality and wears the No 32 shirt at Charleroi, is still in the early stages of his professional career. A move to La Louvière, if it materialises, could offer him regular minutes at the top level and a platform to enhance his reputation in Belgian football and potentially open doors to international recognition.
