Kevin Denkey: Borussia Dortmund eye move for FC Cincinnati and Togo striker
Borussia Dortmund are weighing up a move for Togo international Kevin Denkey, with the FC Cincinnati centre-forward emerging as a potential attacking target for the Bundesliga club.
Denkey, 25, has been in prolific form since arriving in Major League Soccer, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 14 league appearances this season for Cincinnati. The right-footed striker has been central to the clubs attack, starting the vast majority of matches and being directly involved in nearly a third of their MLS goals.
Dortmunds interest comes as Denkey continues to enhance his reputation following a standout spell in Belgium, where he finished as top scorer in the 2023-24 Jupiler Pro League with 27 goals for Cercle Brugge. That campaign paved the way for his move to Cincinnati in January 2025, when the MLS side paid a reported 15.3 million fee to bring him from Brugge.
The forwards eye for goal has also translated to continental competition, with four goals and two assists in three appearances in the 2025-26 CONCACAF Champions Cup, underlining his effectiveness in high-stakes fixtures.
Denkey, born in Lome in 2000 and holding both Togolese and French nationality, is under contract with Cincinnati until December 2028, a situation that puts the MLS club in a strong negotiating position and means Dortmund would likely need a significant offer to test their resolve.
