Jonathan Sowah: Ghana striker linked with Medeama return after Simba exit
Ghanaian centre-forward Jonathan Sowah, currently without a club after leaving Simba SC, is being linked with a return to Medeama in the Ghana Premier League.
The 27-year-old Accra-born striker is understood to be on Medeamas radar as the Tarkwa-based club assesses attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Sowah, who previously played a key role for Medeama before moving abroad, has become available following the end of his spell in Tanzania with Simba SC earlier this month.
Sowah first joined Medeama from Danbort FC in January 2023 and used that platform to earn a move to North Africa a year later, signing for Al-Nasr in January 2024. He then switched to Singida SC in 2025 before being picked up by Simba later that year, adding experience in both Libyan and East African top flights to his CV.
His most productive spell came in the Ghanaian top flight, where he registered 16 goals and one assist in 28 Premier League appearances, averaging a goal roughly every game and a half. That domestic form, combined with involvement in continental competition, helped establish him as a recognised attacking option within the West African market.
Medeama are thought to view Sowahs familiarity with the league and the club as a potential advantage, with discussions at an exploratory stage over a possible reunion. For now, Sowah remains a free agent after his departure from Simba was confirmed at the start of July.
