Hossam Abdelmaguid: Egypt defender linked with Ludogorets move from Zamalek
Egypt centre-back Hossam Abdelmaguid is being linked with a move from Zamalek to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets as the Razgrad club explore defensive reinforcements for the new efbet Liga campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has a contract at Zamalek until 30 June 2027, is valued at around 2m and is understood to be on a shortlist as Ludogorets consider options to strengthen at the heart of their back line. Any deal would require negotiation with Zamalek, who are under no pressure to sell given his long-term agreement in Cairo.
Abdelmaguid has been a regular for Zamalek this season, starting every match in their recent Championship Playoff run and featuring heavily in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign. His performances have come on the back of a period of domestic and continental success with the club, including lifting the CAF Confederation Cup in 2023-24.
The right-footed defender, who stands at 1.93m, has been with Zamaleks first team since 2019 after stepping up from the clubs youth ranks and has accumulated close to 100 Premier League appearances. His consistency has coincided with three Egyptian league titles and further domestic cup honours for the Whites.
Abdelmaguid also featured for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, making two appearances at the tournament, which has added to his profile outside North Africa. That exposure is believed to have alerted clubs in Europe, with Ludogorets among those now monitoring his situation.
For the moment, Abdelmaguid remains contracted to Zamalek through 2027, leaving the Egyptian champions in a strong position should formal offers arrive in the current window.
