Vozinha: Cape Verde goalkeeper linked with move to Saudi side Al-Diriyah

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Chaves, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Diriyah.

The 40-year-old, who has a reported move probability of 38%, is available as a free agent after his departure from Chaves on 1 July 2026. Al-Diriyah are exploring the possibility of adding the experienced stopper as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options ahead of the new campaign.

Vozinhas current market value is estimated at around 50,000, a figure that would make any deal relatively low-risk for the Saudi club. Any agreement would be expected to focus primarily on contract length and role within the squad rather than a transfer fee.

The Mindelo-born goalkeeper has most recently been in action on the international stage, featuring in all four of Cape Verdes matches at the 2026 World Cup. He played every minute of the tournament for his country, keeping two clean sheets and conceding five goals.

Vozinha has spent much of the past decade in European football, with spells at Gil Vicente in Portugal, AEL Limassol in Cyprus, AS Trencin in Slovakia and most recently Chaves. Several of his moves in that period have come via free transfers, reflecting his willingness to change leagues and adapt to new environments.

For now, the veteran remains unattached following the expiry of his deal with Chaves, leaving him free to negotiate directly with Al-Diriyah as talks over a potential switch to Saudi Arabia continue.
