Vozinha: Cape Verde goalkeeper linked with Ceara SC move after World Cup displays

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently without a club after leaving Portuguese side Chaves, is being linked with a move to Brazilian Serie B outfit Ceara SC.

The 40-year-old, born in Mindelo and capped at the 2026 World Cup, is understood to be a target for the Fortaleza club as they assess experienced options in goal. The likelihood of a deal is currently rated at just over 50%, with talks described as exploratory rather than advanced. Any switch would come with minimal financial risk, with the veteran shot-stoppers market valuation around 50,000.

Vozinha became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following his departure from Liga Portugal 2 side Chaves, whom he had joined from AS Trencin in the summer of 2024. The potential move to Ceara would mark a first spell in South American club football for a player whose career has taken in stints in Portugal, Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova and his native Cape Verde.

His World Cup performances this year are thought to be a key factor in Cearas interest. Vozinha started all four of Cape Verdes matches at the tournament, playing every minute, keeping two clean sheets and conceding five goals overall.

At club level he has previously lifted domestic silverware in Europe, winning the Cypriot Cup with AEL Limassol in 201819. For now, Vozinha remains unattached, leaving him free to negotiate directly with Ceara as the Brazilian window continues.
