Sead Ramović resigns as CR Belouizdad head coach after unpaid wages dispute
CR Belouizdad have been plunged into uncertainty following the resignation of head coach Sead Ramović, who has stepped down from his role after a notable but turbulent spell in charge of the Algerian giants.
Ramović, who is widely regarded as the longest-serving coach in the club’s history, departs after overseeing 57 matches across all competitions.
During that period, he recorded an impressive 32 victories, 16 draws and just nine defeats, underlining a generally stable and competitive tenure.
The German tactician also led CR Belouizdad on a memorable run in the CAF Confederation Cup, guiding the team to the semi-final stage of the continental competition—one of the club’s standout achievements in recent years.
Beyond results, Ramović’s side was statistically one of the most dominant in domestic football.
The team consistently controlled games with an average possession rate of 64%, the highest in the league, while also posting an expected goals (xG) figure of 1.64, another league-best indicator of attacking efficiency and chance creation.
However, despite the strong numbers and competitive progress, his departure comes amid serious off-field concerns.
Reports indicate that the coach had not been paid for approximately four months, with unresolved salary issues ultimately forcing his exit.
Ramović has already left Algeria and returned to his home country. He is now expected to escalate the matter to FIFA as part of a formal dispute over the unpaid wages.
His exit marks a sudden and disruptive end to a tenure that, on sporting merit alone, had positioned CR Belouizdad as one of the most tactically consistent sides in the region.
