CAF launches tender for AFCON 2027 broadcast rights
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened a tender process for the broadcast rights to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The governing body said the invitation to tender covers both free-to-air and pay television rights across Sub-Saharan Africa for the tournament, which will run from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
The rights package includes English, Swahili, Portuguese, isiZulu, Wolof, Yoruba and other local language broadcasts. However, French-language pay-TV rights are excluded from the 2027 tender.
CAF said interested broadcasters must submit their bids by 14 September 2026 at 17:00 Cairo time.
The 2027 tournament, branded “PAMOJA” – the Swahili word for “together” – will be the first time the three East African nations co-host the continent’s flagship men’s football competition.
The governing body described the Africa Cup of Nations as Africa’s biggest sporting event and one of the fastest-growing international football tournaments.
According to CAF, the 2025 edition in Morocco attracted more than 3.2 billion television viewers and generated six billion digital views worldwide, making it the third-largest men’s national team football event globally after the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
Other competitions included
Alongside the AFCON 2027 rights, CAF has also invited bids for several other competitions scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
These include:
- AFCON 2027 qualifying matches
- 2026 CAF Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations
- 2027 CAF Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Ghana
- 2027 CAF Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Morocco
- 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco
- CAF Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt
The tenders form part of CAF’s latest effort to secure broadcast partnerships for its major continental competitions over the next two years.
