South African coach Rulani Mokwena is reportedly close to completing a move to Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, with negotiations between the two parties said to be in the final stages.

The development comes shortly after Mokwena ended his brief spell with Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli earlier this week, opening the door for another challenge in North African football.

According to reports from Egypt, including Zamalek Today, Mokwena is expected to finalise the remaining contractual procedures upon his arrival in the country, with Pyramids FC preparing to officially announce their new head coach in the coming days.

The Cairo-based club is believed to have made significant progress in talks with the former Mamelodi Sundowns manager, with both parties reportedly reaching an agreement on most of the key terms of the proposed deal.

Only a few final details are said to be outstanding before the contract is signed, with reports indicating that Mokwena has reached a preliminary agreement on a one-year contract with Pyramids.

If the move is completed, the 39-year-old will continue his impressive journey across North African football after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since his departure from the South African champions, Mokwena has managed several clubs on the continent, including Moroccan giants Wydad AC, Algerian powerhouse MC Alger, and most recently Al-Ittihad Tripoli in Libya.

A move to Pyramids would represent another major opportunity for Mokwena, who remains one of Africa’s most highly regarded young coaches following his success in domestic and continental competitions.
