Al Ahly to play Confederation Cup at Cairo Stadium

Al Ahly have settled on Cairo Stadium as their home venue for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign, with the Egyptian giants set to begin their journey in the competition at the round of 32 stage.

The decision was reached by the club’s management, headed by Mahmoud El Khatib, with Cairo Stadium selected as the main venue for Al Ahly’s home matches in the tournament.

Al Ahly will face Ugandan side Kitara in the round of 32, marking their opening fixture in this season’s Confederation Cup.

According to sources, the Cairo Stadium has been chosen to host the first-leg encounter between the Egyptian giants and Kitara.

Al Ahly have been handed a bye from the round of 64 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to their strong ranking on the continent.

Their opponents, Kitara, secured their place in the round of 32 after eliminating Somalia’s Mogadishu City in the previous round.

The Ugandan side produced a convincing performance over the two legs, securing a 4-1 aggregate victory to advance to the next stage, where they will now face one of Africa’s most successful clubs.

With Cairo Stadium confirmed as their home venue, Al Ahly will now turn their attention to preparing for the tie as they look to make a strong start to their Confederation Cup campaign and compete for another continental title.
