CR Belouizdad faces financial blow after costly contract error
CR Belouizdad has suffered a significant financial setback after the Dispute Resolution Chamber (CRL) ruled in favor of CS Constantine regarding the transfer of Aïmen Bouguerra. The ruling, which left Belouizdad’s management both frustrated and disappointed, centered around a critical contract error that resulted in the player being sold for a fraction of his actual market value.
Last winter, CR Belouizdad loaned Aïmen Bouguerra to CS Constantine with an option for the latter to purchase the player.
However, a glaring mistake in the contract’s drafting set the release clause at just 400 million centimes instead of the intended 4 billion centimes (approximately 300,000 euros), due to a missing zero.
This oversight proved costly, as CRB had initially invested 2 billion centimes to acquire Bouguerra from Paradou AC.
CS Constantine quickly identified the error and acted swiftly to trigger the buyout clause, securing Bouguerra’s transfer for the remarkably low sum of 400 million centimes (around 30,000 euros).
Despite CR Belouizdad’s attempts to rectify what they deemed a simple clerical mistake, the CRL upheld the contract as it was written, finalizing the transfer at the erroneous amount.
For CR Belouizdad, this transfer represents a significant financial loss, amounting to nearly 250,000 euros.
The club’s management is now under scrutiny for this costly error, which is seen as part of a broader pattern of administrative missteps, including the recent mishandling of the Bouras case.
The loss of Bouguerra for such a modest fee has sparked frustration among supporters, who feel that the player’s true value far exceeds the amount received.
As Bouguerra’s move to CS Constantine is now official, questions remain about his future at the club.
Whether he will continue to play for Constantine or pursue opportunities elsewhere is yet to be determined.
Regardless, for CR Belouizdad and its fans, the bitter reality is that a promising player has been lost due to an avoidable error, leaving the club with a financial gap that could have been easily avoided.
