Servette FC reach agreement in principle to sign David Datro Fofana from Chelsea FC

Servette FC have reached an agreement in principle with Chelsea FC to sign Ivory Coast forward David Datro Fofana in a deal worth an estimated €2.5m.

The transfer could also include up to €1m in potential bonuses, with the final administrative details expected to be completed on Friday morning.

Fofana could then travel to Switzerland on Friday afternoon to undergo a medical and complete the remaining formalities before the move is finalised.

If those steps are completed as planned, the 25-year-old will sign a three-year contract with the Geneva-based club.

The proposed move would represent a major attacking addition for Servette FC, who are set to bring in a player with experience of the demands of top-level European football.

Although the agreement with Chelsea FC is not yet fully completed, the two clubs have settled the main points of the operation. The outstanding administrative work is now required before the transfer can be formally confirmed.

Fofana’s potential arrival would give Servette FC an important new option in attack. The Ivorian international is regarded as a promising forward and has already been exposed to the level of competition expected at the highest stage of the European game.

The next key steps are expected to take place in quick succession. The documents must be completed on Friday morning before Fofana can travel to Switzerland later in the day. His medical will be an important part of the process, followed by the final procedures required to complete his move to the Grenat.

The estimated structure of the transfer is a €2.5m payment to Chelsea FC, with a further €1m available through potential bonuses. That means the overall value of the deal could rise if the relevant conditions are met.

Servette FC are now close to securing a significant reinforcement, but the player’s arrival remains dependent on the completion of the final formalities. Should everything proceed as expected, Fofana will commit his future to the Geneva club for three years.

The move would see Chelsea FC and Servette FC conclude an agreement for the Ivorian forward, while the Swiss side prepare to welcome a player they believe can strengthen their attacking options and bring experience of elite European football.
