CAF confirms Refereeing team for Al Ahly vs Zamalek Super Cup clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finalized the refereeing team for the highly anticipated Super Cup match between Egyptian rivals Al Ahly and Zamalek. The match is set to take place on September 27 at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, with kickoff scheduled for 9 PM CET.
Moroccan outlet El Botola reports that Libyan referee Moataz Ibrahim will take charge of the match, with Attia A’mesead and Tunisian official Khalil El Hassany serving as assistant referees.
Somali referee Abdelkader Artan has been appointed as the fourth official.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team will be led by South African referee Tom Abungil, who will be assisted by Moroccan referee Zakaria Brensy.
This selection of officials aims to ensure a smooth and fair contest for one of African football’s most storied rivalries.
The clash marks the first time Al Ahly and Zamalek have faced each other in the CAF Super Cup since their encounter on February 16, 1994, when Zamalek emerged victorious with a 1-0 win.
This year’s showdown promises to be a thrilling match as both teams look to add another prestigious trophy to their cabinets.
Al Ahly enters the Super Cup as the reigning CAF Champions League winners, while Zamalek earned their place by clinching the CAF Confederation Cup.
The demand for the match has been so high that CAF has announced all tickets have already sold out, reflecting the global interest in this epic encounter between the Cairo giants.
