Bamba Dieng: St Pauli eye FC Lorient striker in €6m move

St Pauli are being linked with a move for FC Lorient centre-forward Bamba Dieng, with the Bundesliga club rated as having a 40% chance of landing the Senegal striker.

Dieng, 26, is currently on the books at Ligue 1 side Lorient, where he wears the number 12 shirt, but his future in Brittany appears uncertain, with his contract situation not publicly clarified and the possibility of a free-agent exit later down the line adding intrigue to the negotiations.

The Pikine-born forward, who stands at 1.78m and operates primarily as a central striker on his right foot, is valued at €6.00m on Transfermarkt as of 27 April 2026 – a figure that is expected to shape any talks between Lorient and St Pauli. The German club, who are targeting extra firepower for the Bundesliga, are understood to be exploring whether that valuation could drop if Lorient risk losing him for nothing when his deal runs down.

Dieng’s most recent campaign with Lorient has kept him in the shop window, with the Senegalese attacker featuring in Ligue 1 and continuing to occupy a central role in the club’s attack. In one of his latest outings this season – a tightly contested league match earlier this month for Lorient against top‑flight opposition – he led the line in a narrow defeat, working the channels and contributing to Lorient’s pressing game despite failing to get on the scoresheet as his side slipped to a single‑goal loss. That kind of all‑round contribution, rather than just goals, is thought to appeal to prospective suitors.

Having already established himself in a major European league and with his market value still relatively accessible by top‑flight standards, a switch to St Pauli would offer Dieng a fresh platform in the Bundesliga. If the move materialises, it could prove a pivotal step in his career, shaping both his reputation in European football and his long‑term prospects at the highest level.
