Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen stars with two goals as Galatasaray thrash Erzurumspor 4-0
Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen produced a decisive performance for Galatasaray as the Turkish champions cruised to a 4-0 victory over Erzurumspor in the Super Lig on Friday night.
Osimhen scored twice and provided an assist as Galatasaray secured all three points at the Kazım Karabekir Stadium.
The Super Eagles forward started the match and remained a constant threat as Galatasaray took control of the contest.
Galatasaray opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Roland Sallai reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area and fired a low finish into the right corner.
Osimhen then played a key role in the second goal eight minutes later.
The Nigerian found himself in a good position to shoot but opted to pass to Yunus Akgün, who made no mistake with a precise finish into the bottom-left corner to double Galatasaray’s advantage.
Galatasaray continued to dominate and added a third goal just before half-time.
Osimhen capitalised on a defensive error by Matija Orbanic, collecting the loose ball inside the box before calmly finding the net to make it 3-0.
The goal capped a highly effective first-half display from the Nigeria international, who had already contributed directly to his side’s second goal.
Osimhen saved his best moment for the final stages of the match.
In the 79th minute, Gabriel Sara found himself in a promising position inside the box but chose to tee up Osimhen instead.
The Nigerian striker kept his composure and powered his finish into the left side of the net to complete his brace and seal a commanding 4-0 victory.
The performance underlined Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray, with the Nigeria international directly involved in three of his side’s four goals as they began the league campaign in emphatic fashion.
