Moroccan coach Adel Ramzi has reportedly turned down an opportunity to lead the Netherlands Under-23 side in favour of a role within Morocco’s national team structure.

Reports from Radio Mars suggest the former Morocco international has chosen to align himself with a project led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, with an agreement believed to have been reached for him to join the staff of the national team overseen by Mohamed Ouahbi.

Ramzi, who previously represented Morocco during his playing career, is said to be preparing to take up a position within the technical setup linked to the Atlas Lions.

His reported decision comes after he declined an offer from the Royal Dutch Football Association to become head coach of the Dutch U23 national team.

The move would mark another step in Ramzi’s coaching journey, which has largely developed in Europe.

After ending his playing career, the former forward moved into coaching and received training at PSV Eindhoven, where he began building his reputation on the sidelines.

Over time, he gained experience working within the European football system, gradually establishing himself as a coach with a growing profile.

That background is now believed to have brought him closer to the Moroccan federation’s long‑term sporting project.

Should his appointment be confirmed, Ramzi’s arrival could add further depth to the technical structure surrounding Morocco’s national side.

The Atlas Lions are preparing for upcoming continental and international competitions, and additional expertise within the coaching staff could play a role in their preparations.

However, the reported development has not yet been officially confirmed by the Moroccan federation.

No formal announcement has been made regarding Ramzi’s appointment or the exact nature of his role within the national team setup.

If the move is finalised, it would also reflect a wider strategy pursued by the federation in recent years — integrating more Moroccan expertise into the national team’s technical framework.

The approach aims to strengthen the team’s identity while benefiting from the experience of coaches who have developed within European football systems.

For now, confirmation from the federation is still awaited, but reports suggest Ramzi may soon become part of the coaching team working around Morocco’s senior national side.
