Christopher Nkunku nears Leipzig comeback as Bundesliga club reach Milan agreement
Christopher Nkunku is reportedly close to making a return to RB Leipzig, with the Bundesliga club and AC Milan said to have reached an agreement in principle for the France international.
According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, the move is nearing completion, with only the final contractual details left to resolve.
Nkunku’s potential return would see him go back to the club where he established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking players.
Loan deal with option to buy
The proposed agreement is understood to be a loan move for the 28-year-old, with Leipzig also set to have an option to make the transfer permanent.
The two clubs are now working on the remaining contractual details, with the deal expected to be finalised within the next two to three days if everything goes according to plan.
Nkunku currently plays for AC Milan but could be on his way back to Germany before the transfer window closes.
Leipzig reunion could boost attack
A return to Leipzig would represent a significant boost for the Bundesliga side, who are looking to strengthen their squad for the current campaign.
Nkunku already knows the club well, having previously enjoyed a highly productive spell in Saxony and established himself as a key attacking player.
His versatility and familiarity with Leipzig’s environment could allow him to make an immediate impact if the move is completed.
The proposed transfer would also bring an end to a period of uncertainty surrounding Nkunku’s future, with Leipzig now reportedly close to bringing their former star back.
