Morocco international Bilal El Khannous is reportedly considering leaving Stuttgart during the summer transfer window after becoming frustrated with his reduced playing time.

According to Moroccan outlet Al-Botola, the 22-year-old has told people close to him that he is weighing up his future after seeing his role diminish following his return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

El Khannous is said to have become increasingly dissatisfied as his opportunities in the starting line-up declined during the second half of the campaign.

Playing time drops after promising start

The midfielder enjoyed an encouraging first season with Stuttgart, contributing to 16 goals through goals and assists.

However, the second half of the Bundesliga campaign proved far less productive. El Khannous started only eight league matches after the winter break, contributed to three goals and was named among the substitutes for the German Cup final.

The reduced involvement has reportedly prompted the Morocco international to consider seeking a new challenge ahead of the new season.

Stuttgart unwilling to sell

Despite the speculation, the report says Stuttgart have not received any formal request from El Khannous to leave the club.

The Bundesliga side are also understood to have no intention of selling the midfielder just a year after making his move from Leicester City permanent in a deal worth around €20 million.

According to the report, Stuttgart would only consider opening negotiations if they receive an offer exceeding €60 million.

El Khannous’ value has reportedly increased following his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he started six matches as Morocco reached the quarter-finals, further enhancing his reputation as one of Africa’s brightest young midfielders.
