Mohamed Salah agrees verbal deal to join Besiktas – Reports
Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join Turkish club Besiktas following the end of his nine-year spell at Liverpool.
According to journalist Santi Ona, the two parties have agreed on a one-year contract with the option of extending the deal by a further season, bringing the African star closer to a new chapter in his career.
The move would see Salah become one of the highest-profile signings in Turkish football after leaving Liverpool as one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
Salah to accept significant pay cut
Reports indicate the 34-year-old will earn an annual salary of €10 million, with a further €2 million available in performance-related bonuses.
The proposed package is significantly lower than the reported €24 million per year he earned during his final contract at Liverpool.
Earlier reports suggested Salah had been seeking a three-year deal worth €15 million per season, but those terms were ultimately not agreed.
New challenge after glittering Liverpool career
If the transfer is completed, Besiktas will become the seventh club of Salah’s professional career.
The Egyptian international previously played for Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina, Roma and Liverpool.
Salah spent nine seasons at Anfield between 2017 and 2026, winning two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League while establishing himself as one of Africa’s greatest footballers.
Neither Besiktas nor Salah has officially confirmed the reported agreement.
