Ghana is expected to announce a new head coach for the Black Stars later this week, with the search for a successor to Otto Addo nearing completion.

The national team has been without a permanent manager since Otto Addo was dismissed following international friendly matches against Austria and Germany in March.

Since then, the Ghana Football Association has been working to identify a replacement to lead the team into its next phase.

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has indicated that the process is almost finalised. Speaking on Channel One TV, the Buem MP suggested that an official confirmation is imminent.

“If we do not announce the coach by this weekend, then by Monday at the latest we should be able to present the new Black Stars coach,” he said.

The minister also expressed confidence in the team’s long-term prospects, highlighting Ghana’s potential to compete at the highest level of international football.

“We have what it takes to go very far, maybe even win the World Cup. Let’s remain confident,” he added.

Several experienced candidates have been linked with the role during the selection process, including Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento and Fernando Santos, although no official confirmation has been made regarding the final choice.

The timing of the appointment is significant, with the new coach expected to take charge ahead of an upcoming international friendly against Mexico in May.

The match is seen as part of preparations for the next major international competition.

Ghana have been placed in Group L, where they will open their campaign against Panama on 17 June. Further group fixtures will see them face England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.

With the announcement now imminent, attention will soon turn to how the new coach shapes the squad and prepares the team for the challenges ahead on the international stage.
