Michael Olise credits Vincent Kompany’s tactical mastery for Bayern’s surge

Michael Olise has hailed the tactical clarity and collective spirit instilled by manager Vincent Kompany as the driving force behind FC Bayern Munich’s dominant form this season.

Speaking ahead of the club’s Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash against Atalanta, the French international of Ivorian descent emphasized that Kompany’s ‘plans and ideas’ have moved the squad away from a reliance on individual talent toward a cohesive, unified identity.

“Vincent Kompany helps to make us stronger with his plans, his ideas,” Olise stated, reflecting on the Belgian manager’s influence. “Everyone knows what we need to do in certain situations. We’re all on the same page. Everyone gives their best all the time. It’s not like an individual team.”

These remarks underscore a significant shift in the dressing room atmosphere at the Allianz Arena, where the squad appears revitalized following Kompany’s arrival and his subsequent contract extension through 2029.

Olise’s personal ascent has been one of the primary success stories of this new tactical regime. Since his high-profile transfer from Crystal Palace in 2024, the 24-year-old has evolved into one of Europe’s most productive playmakers.

Under Kompany’s structured system, Olise has flourished, recording a remarkable 13 goals and 24 assists across 35 appearances in all competitions during the 2025–26 campaign.

His efficiency in the Bundesliga—10 goals and 16 assists in 23 games—has been instrumental in Bayern’s push to reclaim domestic supremacy.

The Frenchman’s comments suggest that the “Kompany era” is defined by a rigorous attention to detail that empowers players rather than restricting them.

By ensuring every member of the squad understands their role “in certain situations,” the manager has fostered an environment of high intensity and mutual accountability.
