Felix Uduokhai set for Bundesliga return after two years in Turkey

Felix Uduokhai is reportedly on the verge of returning to the Bundesliga, just two years after leaving Germany for Turkey.

The 28-year-old centre-back has reached an agreement with Union Berlin, according to transfer insider Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

The clubs have also apparently settled their negotiations, with Sky reporting that Uduokhai could undergo his medical examination as early as Thursday. If everything proceeds smoothly, the defender will soon begin a new chapter at the Alte Försterei.

Uduokhai has been linked with a move away from Besiktas for several weeks. Schalke and Italian club Monza were previously mentioned as possible destinations, but Union have now moved into pole position. The left-footed defender remains under contract in Istanbul until 2027.

Besiktas signed Uduokhai from Augsburg for €5 million. His potential departure would bring an end to a relatively short spell in Turkey and give the player an opportunity to re-establish himself in German football.

Union have clear reasons for strengthening their defence. Danilho Doekhi has joined Lazio, while Diogo Leite is currently without a club after leaving Berlin. The Bundesliga side have already brought in Marvin Friedrich and Zeno Van den Bosch, but Uduokhai would add experience, balance and another left-footed option to the back line.
