Alejandro Balde tells Barcelona he wants to stay

Alejandro Balde has reportedly told Barcelona that he intends to remain at the club and fight for his place in the team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish left-back is not currently pushing for a transfer despite growing interest from Manchester United.

Barcelona had been hoping to sell the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes, with the club eager to generate additional income. Balde’s decision could now complicate those plans and leave the Catalan side facing a difficult squad-management situation.

The defender’s position became less secure during the second half of last season, when he lost his regular starting role under head coach Hansi Flick. His situation has become even more complicated following Barcelona’s permanent signing of João Cancelo, whose arrival has increased competition across the full-back positions.

Manchester United are understood to be particularly interested in Balde, but any move would depend on the player changing his stance and Barcelona receiving an offer that satisfies their financial expectations.

For now, Balde appears determined to stay at Camp Nou and prove that he still deserves a prominent role. His decision gives Flick another option in defence, while also creating a selection battle that could benefit the team during a demanding campaign.
