Crisis talks in Spurs dressing room after Palace defeat, reveals English-Nigerian Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke has disclosed that Tottenham Hotspur players held an urgent dressing room meeting following their damaging home defeat to Crystal Palace, as concern grows over the club’s precarious position in the Premier League table.

Spurs fell to a 3-1 loss in North London on Thursday night, a result that deepens their struggles and leaves them hovering just one point above the relegation zone.

Solanke briefly gave the hosts hope with an early goal, but Palace responded strongly to secure all three points and compound the pressure on Tottenham’s squad.

The defeat prompted immediate reflection inside the dressing room, with Solanke revealing that the players gathered to confront the gravity of the situation.

“We’ve just had a big conversation. We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible,” he said.

Tottenham’s inconsistent campaign has left them battling unfamiliar territory near the bottom of the table, a stark contrast to the expectations typically associated with the club. Their latest setback, in front of their home supporters, intensified scrutiny over both performances and mentality.

Solanke acknowledged that while the team has faced challenges during the season, the time for explanations has passed, stressing that improvement must now come through results on the pitch.

“We know there’s been difficulties but we’re not in a position to make any excuses anymore. We need to do the job on the pitch. It is easy to say we want to be better but we want to be better on the pitch.”

With the season entering a critical phase, Tottenham face a fight to distance themselves from danger. Solanke emphasised the need for urgency and resilience as the squad attempts to reverse its fortunes.

“We need to fight and realise the position we are in. We know the club is not used to being in this position so we need to understand it and understand it’s not going to be easy and we need to fight every single game, every single minute, to make sure we improve.”
