Chelsea-bound striker Emanuel Emegha has addressed the controversy surrounding his one-game suspension from Strasbourg following provocative comments.
Emegha, 22, who possesses Dutch, Togolese, French, and Nigerian heritage, is a Netherlands youth international and is scheduled to join Chelsea from Strasbourg, a BlueCo sister club, in 2026.
The French club sanctioned him for ‘failure to respect the club’s values, expectations and rules’ after an interview in which he revealed he initially believed Strasbourg was in Germany.
He also implied the team’s recent struggles were partly linked to his absence due to injury, according to L’Équipe.
Taking to Instagram, Emegha acknowledged his errors and vowed to learn from them.
“I know that I must do better, and I will, on and off the pitch to represent the club. He (Marc Keller) knows how much I love this club and how much I work every day,” Emegha added.
The striker also expressed gratitude to his colleagues and staff.
“I also extend my thanks to my teammates, the staff, head coach Liam Rosenior and Sporting Director David Weir and everyone associated with the team. On Saturday, I will be 200% back the team like a supporter,” he said.
Emegha’s apology comes as Strasbourg aims to maintain squad harmony while the forward prepares for his high-profile move to Chelsea.
