Olisa Ndah is reportedly close to joining a Libyan club after his proposed move to Mamelodi Sundowns stalled over the South African side’s foreign player quota.

The Nigerian defender has been without a club since leaving Stellenbosch at the end of last season and had attracted interest from several teams in South Africa.

He had also been linked with a move to the Middle East, although that possibility did not materialise.

Ndah subsequently emerged as a potential target for Sundowns, who were looking to strengthen their squad.

However, negotiations failed to progress because of restrictions on the number of foreign players the club can accommodate.

The situation has now opened the door for the 28-year-old to continue his career outside South Africa.

Ndah closing in on Libyan transfer

According to sources, Ndah is in advanced negotiations with an unnamed Libyan club and could complete the move soon.

The identity of his prospective club has not been confirmed, but the report suggests that his quality could see him join one of the leading sides in the Libyan league.

Among the clubs mentioned as possible destinations are Al Ahli Tripoli, Al Ittihad Tripoli, Al Nasr, Al Ahly and Al Hilal of Benghazi.

For Ndah, the reported move would represent a significant change in his career.

The defender has spent his professional career in Nigeria and South Africa, making a move to Libya his first experience of playing outside those two countries.
