Marquinhos hails French-Congolese forward Randal Kolo Muani after brace against PSG

PSG captain Marquinhos says he is ‘really happy’ for Tottenham forward Randal Kolo Muani after the on-loan striker scored twice against his parent club in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Muani, who is of Congolese heritage, delivered his strongest display of the season, striking two second-half goals in Spurs’ 5-3 loss at the Parc des Princes.

His double ended a long goal drought and followed his assist for Richarlison’s opener, marking a timely breakthrough for the Bondy-born forward.

His performance placed him among former PSG players who have returned to Paris and impressed.

It also drew warm praise from his former captain, who highlighted Muani’s long-standing qualities.

“I know Randal well, I already played against him when he was at Nantes,” Marquinhos said, recalling the forward’s physical presence and strong one-on-one play.

“Even in training here in Paris, we all saw the quality he has. Today he played a great match, he showed all his potential.”

The Brazilian defender said Muani’s resurgence showed how a change of environment can help a player rediscover confidence.

“Sometimes a player goes through difficult times at a club, things don’t work out, and you need to find motivation elsewhere,” he said. “Seeing him play, having fun, and regaining his confidence makes me really happy.”

Marquinhos described Muani as “a great guy” and wished him well for the rest of the season as Tottenham prepare for the next phase of their European campaign.
