Brentford closes in on Senegal and West Ham defender El Hadji Malick Diouf

Brentford are reportedly nearing an agreement with West Ham United for the signing of Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf.

According to reports, negotiations between the two Premier League clubs have progressed significantly, although a few details still need to be resolved before the transfer can be completed.

The deal is expected to be wrapped up in the coming days, with Brentford keen to add the versatile Senegalese defender to their squad.

West Ham, meanwhile, are looking to raise funds following their relegation to the Championship. The Hammers are expected to use the sale of Diouf as an opportunity to generate significant revenue during the current transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Ziguinchor, is currently valued at around €28 million by Transfermarkt.

Diouf joined West Ham from Czech side Slavia Prague last summer in a deal reportedly worth €22 million and quickly established himself as a regular on the left side of the team.

He made 34 appearances across all competitions during his first season in England, starting 32 of those matches and contributing five assists.

His performances have also earned him an important role with the Senegal national team. Diouf has collected 23 international caps and was part of the Lions of Teranga squad for both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

A move to Brentford would give Diouf the opportunity to remain in English football while providing the Bees with a young international defender capable of adding energy and attacking quality to their left flank.

With negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage, the final details between Brentford and West Ham are expected to be settled before the transfer is officially completed.
