Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso delighted with Cassius Mailula’s impressive scoring form

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has expressed his delight with Cassius Mailula’s strong start in front of goal since returning to the club.

The 24-year-old forward has found the back of the net three times in four appearances across all competitions under Cardoso, making an encouraging impact in the early stages of the campaign.

Mailula’s goalscoring form has caught the attention of his coach, who believes the player’s happiness and comfort within the Sundowns environment have contributed to his performances.

Cardoso praised Mailula’s quality and suggested that the attacker is currently enjoying his football, allowing his ability to come to the fore naturally.

“Cassius is a stated player; everybody knows the quality that he has. Obviously, that being happy makes him, makes things more fluid,” Cardoso said.

“He’s a very happy player in the moment by being with us, we are very happy also to have him.

“He was very well welcomed but he felt immediately back home and when you are happy usually things flow towards you, you know, the energy comes towards the people that are open-hearted to it.

“So, I think that’s what’s happening and let’s see. Of course, we have a lot of players that can help in the front, he’s one of them and we count on him of course as we count on the other ones.”

Mailula’s return to form represents a major boost for Sundowns, particularly with the club competing on multiple fronts.

Cardoso is also aware of the competition for places in attack and stressed that Mailula remains one of several players capable of making an impact in the final third.
