Mohamed Salah’s Saudi Arabia move rekindled by £150 million offer

Talks of Mohamed Salah’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League have resurfaced, spurred by fresh news of a possible £150 million offer.

Despite renewing his contract with Liverpool just before the season started, the Egyptian star remains an attractive target for Saudi clubs.

According to British journalist Graeme Bailey, the idea of Salah joining the Saudi league is “still alive.” On his social media, Bailey mentioned plans for a lucrative bid and a host of benefits for Salah, which may include making him a Saudi football ambassador and offering long-term club partnerships.

Salah’s openness to a future return to the Middle East is also mentioned, even as various turning points seemed to shut that door, especially after his contract renewal. Notably, Saudi sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal clarified, “He was not among our requested deals.” However, he added: “Salah is a big star and fits the sporting strategy of our country.”

Salah’s season has started slow, tallying 4 goals and 3 assists in 13 games, a far cry from last year’s record. Former Dutch international Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink commented, “Salah looks frustrated, his form is down and he’s no longer Liverpool’s only superstar. The team needs to find its balance again.”
