Zitha Kwinika extends Kaizer Chiefs stay until 2028

Kaizer Chiefs vice captain Zitha Kwinika has re-signed for the Amakhosi, putting pen to paper on a new two-year contract that keeps him at Naturena until June 2028.

The experienced defender has re-established himself as a crucial asset this season, earning this reward despite a frustrating end to the campaign cut short by injury.

Negotiations between the player and club have concluded with all parties satisfied. “It’s as good as done. Everything between the player and the club has been agreed,” an insider told Soccer Laduma. “It’s believed to be a straight two-year contract until June 2028. His previous deal was coming to an end in June this year, but Chiefs have decided to extend his stay. As things stand, there is no option included in the contract”.

The 31-year-old remains one of the dressing room’s senior figures and was elevated into the leadership group this season alongside Brandon Petersen and Inacio Miguel.

A product of Chiefs’ development structures, Kwinika returned to Naturena in 2022 after an impressive spell at Stellenbosch FC where he became one of the league’s most reliable defenders. This renewal is a significant show of faith from the club in their vice captain.
