Dutch-Moroccan centre-forward Youssef El Kachati of NEC Nijmegen is being linked with a summer switch to French side Stade Reims, with the 26-year-old’s situation attracting interest amid uncertainty over his contract status in the Eredivisie.
The Leiden-born striker, who holds both Moroccan and Dutch nationality, is valued at €650k, according to Transfermarkt, and reports in the Netherlands and France suggest Reims are exploring a deal as they plan for the new Ligue 2 campaign. With his contract details at NEC not publicly disclosed and no expiry date listed, speculation has grown that El Kachati could be available for a relatively low fee, or even move on as a free agent if his agreement is close to running down.
The probability of the transfer remains officially marked as “?” and there is no indication yet that negotiations are advanced, but Reims are thought to see the right-footed centre-forward as a cost-effective option to deepen their attacking options.
El Kachati, who wears the number 34 shirt for NEC, stands at 1.85m and operates primarily through the middle in an attacking role. Recent data lists him as part of the NEC set-up in the Eredivisie, although full seasonal statistics and detailed recent match records – including opponent, date, scoreline and his individual performance – have not been published in the latest update.
Born on 9 November 1999, El Kachati has built his career in Dutch football and is now at an age where a move abroad could define his next step. A successful switch to Reims, whether via a low-cost transfer or as a free agent, would offer him a fresh platform in France and the chance to enhance both his reputation and market value in a new league.
