Youssef Chermiti: Rangers’ Portugal-Tunisia striker linked with Galatasaray move

Portugal-Tunisia centre-forward Youssef Chermiti of Rangers is being linked with a summer switch to Turkish giants Galatasaray, with the 22-year-old’s Ibrox future increasingly under scrutiny.

The Glasgow club’s No 9, valued at €15.00m on Transfermarkt, is the subject of mounting speculation in Türkiye after reports placed Galatasaray among the sides monitoring his situation ahead of the new Süper Lig season. The probability of a deal remains officially listed as “?”, underlining that talks are at an early and uncertain stage.

Chermiti, born on 24 May 2004 in Santa Maria in the Azores, holds both Portuguese and Tunisian nationality and is regarded as a classic central striker. Standing at 1.92m and favouring his right foot, he has been used primarily as an out-and-out No 9 in Scotland’s Premiership. Details of his Rangers contract, including its expiry date, have not been disclosed publicly, fuelling talk that the forward could run down his deal and test the market as a potential free agent if no agreement is reached.

Recent performances have kept him in the shop window. In Rangers’ last outing before this latest round of rumours – a Scottish Premiership fixture against Celtic at Ibrox on 5 May 2026, which finished 2-2 – Chermiti led the line from the start, offering a physical outlet in attack. While he did not get on the scoresheet, his hold-up play and aerial presence drew attention from scouts tracking his development.

Having already experienced top-flight football in Scotland with Rangers and now attracting interest from the Turkish champions, a move to Istanbul would mark the next step in Chermiti’s career – one that could significantly shape his reputation as a leading young centre-forward in European football if the transfer does eventually materialise.
