Trezeguet: Egypt winger leaves Al Ahly to become free agent after title-winning season
Egypt winger Trezeguet has left Al Ahly and become a free agent after his contract with the Cairo giants came to an end. The 31-year-old, a left-sided attacker who prefers to operate off the flank, departs just weeks after a prolific campaign at club and international level.
Trezeguet returned to Al Ahly in June 2025 from Turkish side Trabzonspor for a fee of €1.6m and has since re-established himself as one of the most effective forwards in African competition. In the 2025-26 CAF Champions League he scored six goals in nine matches, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, while also leading the scoring charts in the Egyptian Premier League with eight goals.
His form helped Al Ahly add to their extensive trophy collection. The Kafr El-Sheikh-born player lifted the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian league title earlier in his career with the club, and most recently added another Egyptian Super Cup in the 2025-26 season. Standing at 1.81m, he has built a reputation for decisive contributions in big matches for both club and country.
On the international stage, Trezeguet has twice finished Africa Cup of Nations runner-up with Egypt and was part of the side that reached the World Cup in 2026. At that tournament he featured in four games, contributing a goal and an assist.
A veteran of spells with Anderlecht, Kasimpasa, Aston Villa, Basaksehir, Trabzonspor and Al-Rayyan, Trezeguet now leaves Al Ahly with a market value of €4.5m and is officially without a club following his departure on 14 July 2026.
