Sabir Bougrine: Morocco midfielder leaves Raja Casablanca to become free agent

Morocco international midfielder Sabir Bougrine has left Raja Casablanca and is now a free agent after bringing his spell with the Moroccan champions to an end.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder, who also holds Belgian nationality, departs Raja following a successful stint in Casablanca, during which he helped the club secure both the league title and the national cup in the 2023-24 season. He had joined Raja from Tunisian side Esperance on a free transfer in August 2023.

Bougrine, born in Mechelen and right-footed, has built a reputation as a creative presence between midfield and attack, with experience across North Africa and Europe. In the Botola Pro Inwi alone he has made 79 appearances, providing 15 assists and scoring three goals, while also featuring regularly in the CAF Champions League, where he has three goals and six assists from 26 games.

Before arriving in Morocco, Bougrine enjoyed a decorated spell with Esperance, winning the Tunisian championship in 2021-22, having previously lifted the Azerbaijani title with Neftchi PFK in 2020-21. His earlier career took him from the JMG Lier academy into the ranks of Lierse SK and then on to Paris FC and Luxembourgs F91 Dudelange.

On the international stage, Bougrine has been part of a successful Morocco set-up, winning both the African Nations Championship and the Arab Cup in the 2024-25 campaign. His current market valuation stands at around 450,000.

Bougrines departure from Raja Casablanca is confirmed as a completed move, with the playmaker now listed without a club following the end of his contract.
