Raja Casablanca to reopen historic academy residence in major Oasis Complex revamp

Raja Casablanca president Jawad El Ziyat has announced the long-awaited revival of the club’s historic players’ residence and a sweeping modernisation of its Oasis training complex, in what he describes as the start of “a new phase” for the Moroccan giants.

Speaking in an interview with Moroccan outlet Le360 Sport, due to be published in full in the coming hours, El Ziyat confirmed that the club’s famous overnight accommodation centre – long a symbol of Raja’s youth development – will return to full operation after years of closure.

He said the move is at the heart of a broader project to restore the Oasis Complex to its former status as one of Morocco’s leading football academies and training hubs.

Historic residence to reopen

El Ziyat underlined that the reopening of the residence is a deliberate effort by the club’s board to “reassert the value” of one of Raja’s most important landmarks.

The revamped centre will house around 50 beds and is intended to provide suitable living and training conditions for academy and youth-category players.

By reinstating the facility, Raja’s leadership aims to re-anchor the club’s future on a structured, home-grown talent pathway rather than short-term fixes in the transfer market.

El Ziyat explained that the initiative fits into a long-term vision which “relies on investment in training as a fundamental pillar of the club’s future”.

Major upgrade works at Oasis Complex

The Raja president confirmed that renovation work is already under way across the wider Oasis Complex, known as the “Mouqab al-Oasis”, long considered the spiritual home of the Green Eagles.

The works include:

– Refurbishing and upgrading the training pitches – Modernising various support and service facilities – Building a dedicated Raja Casablanca museum on site

El Ziyat said the planned museum will chronicle the club’s history, trophies and major milestones, while also reflecting Raja’s deep-rooted identity and values.

By tying the new infrastructure to the club’s past, Raja’s management hopes to strengthen the sense of continuity between previous generations of players and today’s squads.

Serving first team and all age groups

El Ziyat stressed that the overarching objective is to turn the Oasis Complex into a fully integrated space that serves both the first team and all age categories.

He said the project is designed to align with Raja’s new sporting and administrative strategy, which combines professional management with a renewed focus on academy development.

The ambition, he added, is to restore the Oasis Complex “to its natural position as one of the leading training centres and sports facilities in Morocco”, while equipping it to meet modern performance and welfare standards.

The revival of the residence and the broader redevelopment of the complex are expected to be welcomed by Raja fans, who have long viewed the Oasis site as a cornerstone of the club’s identity and a cradle for future stars.
