The African Super Cup final between USM Alger and Mamelodi Sundowns was delayed at half-time after heavy rain struck Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
USM Alger led 2-1 when the first half ended, following an action-packed opening between the Algerian and South African sides.
Zakaria Draoui put USM Alger ahead in the fourth minute, but Mamelodi Sundowns levelled through Teboho Mokoena.
Saadi Redouani then restored USM Alger’s advantage before the interval.
The downpour prevented the second half from starting as scheduled, with officials needing to assess whether the pitch was suitable for play and whether conditions were safe for the players.
The stoppage came after 45 minutes of a match that had produced three goals and a fast start from both teams. No decision on the resumption of play was given until the condition of the surface could be checked.
