Olakunle Olusegun: Nigeria winger joins Rostov from Krasnodar in €450k deal
Nigeria winger Olakunle Olusegun has joined FC Rostov from Russian champions Krasnodar in a permanent €450,000 transfer in the Russian Premier Liga. The 24-year-old left-sided attacker has signed a contract with Rostov running until 30 June 2029.
Olusegun’s move keeps him in Russia’s top flight, where he has established himself across recent seasons. He spent the 2025-26 campaign with Pari NN on loan from Krasnodar before returning to his parent club at the end of the season, and now leaves Krasnodar shortly after their title-winning campaign in which he earned a Russian championship medal in 2025.
Born in Ilorin, Kwara, Olusegun operates primarily as a left winger but plays off his right foot, adding directness and one-on-one threat from wide areas. Standing at 1.67m, he brings a low centre of gravity and acceleration to Rostov’s forward line as they reshape their attack for the coming seasons.
Olusegun first arrived in Russian football in 2021, initially joining Krasnodar’s second team on loan from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv before making a permanent move to Krasnodar’s senior squad in 2022. He has since built up significant Premier Liga experience, featuring in more than 100 league matches and contributing goals and assists while also appearing regularly in the Russian Cup and Super Cup.
Rostov’s acquisition of Olusegun, whose current market value is listed at €2.5m, extends his stay in Russian football at least until 2029 and finalises his switch from Krasnodar on a long-term basis.
