Njabulo Blom: South African free agent linked with Borneo FC move

South African midfielder Njabulo Blom, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Indonesian Super League side Borneo FC as the 26-year-old weighs up his next step after leaving Nam Dinh FC.

Blom became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following the end of his stint with the Vietnamese club, putting him on the market at a time when Borneo are looking to strengthen in defensive midfield. His current estimated value stands at around €650,000, and any deal would be expected to come without a transfer fee, making him an accessible option for the Indonesian side.

The Dobsonville-born player has built a reputation as a holding midfielder, with significant experience in South Africa’s Betway Premiership and Major League Soccer. He made 87 league appearances in South Africa, as well as 42 in MLS, where he also featured in the MLS Cup Playoffs and continental competition with outings in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Blom, who came through the ranks at Kaizer Chiefs before an initial move abroad to St. Louis CITY, returned to the Johannesburg giants on loan in 2024-25 prior to heading to Vietnam. His spell at Nam Dinh FC preceded his release this summer as the club reshaped its squad.

The interest from Borneo FC comes as the Kalimantan club look to tap into overseas markets, with Blom’s blend of domestic and international experience seen as aligning with their recruitment drive. For now, the midfielder remains unattached as talks and interest continue to develop around his future.
