Mostafa Mohamed: Samsunspor eye move for Egypt and Nantes striker

Egypt centre-forward Mostafa Mohamed is being linked with a summer move from FC Nantes to Turkish Super Lig side Samsunspor.

The 28-year-old, currently leading the line for the Ligue 1 club and valued at €3.50m, is the subject of growing speculation over a switch to Türkiye, with the reported probability of a deal being placed at 51%.

Mohamed’s contractual situation at Nantes is unclear, with no expiry date publicly listed, raising the possibility that he could edge towards free-agent territory if no extension is agreed. That uncertainty has encouraged Samsunspor, who are seeking a proven centre-forward for next season’s Super Lig campaign.

Born in Giza on 28 November 1997, the 1.85m right-footed attacker has established himself as a traditional No 9, operating primarily as a central striker. He wears the number 31 shirt at Nantes and has become a familiar presence in Ligue 1 after previous spells in Egypt and Europe earlier in his career.

The latest chatter around his future comes after a mixed campaign with the French side, where his physical presence and penalty-box movement remained his key assets. In a recent league outing for Nantes – a narrow defeat against a fellow mid-table opponent earlier this month – Mohamed led the line from the start, working the channels but failing to add to his goal tally as his side fell to a late setback.

Any move to Samsunspor would give the Egyptian another major European league on his CV, following his time in France’s top flight. With his market value relatively modest for a starting striker and his next contract likely to be a pivotal one in his late 20s, a transfer to Türkiye could become a defining step in shaping both his reputation and his long-term trajectory in the European game if it goes through.
